Terms of Use: Forum Posting Guidelines
The Prisoner Fan Forum is the place to go if you want to discuss all things related to Prisoner: Cell Block H (Prisoner).
This forum is not official or in any way affiliated to any commercial organisation and does not act on behalf of any commercial organisation. It has no direct influence on the current or future output of these organisations. This forum is moderated by an administration team (the Moderators).
The opinions expressed within posts are those of the author and have no bearing on those of the Moderators or site owner.
1.0 POSTING GUIDELINES
If you wish to post a message to this forum, please observe the following guidelines:
1.01 Other Members
Be civil and polite to other members, and respect opinions that may strongly contrast your own.
1.02 Netiquette
Observe the conventions of "netiquette" (e.g., not "shouting" by typing solely in UPPER CASE or using “text speak”).
1.03 Off Topic Posts
Remain on-topic as much as possible within the relevant thread. If you need to follow up on comments regarding a different topic then start a new thread. Bear in mind that this site is primarily for the discussion of Prisoner, off-topic posts should only be posted in the Off Topic section or they may be moved, deleted or the thread closed by a Moderator without warning.
1.04 Illegal Sales or Other Activities
Please do not give publicity here to people selling pirated material at eBay or other online sites. Instead, we would suggest you report the sellers to the appropriate site / copyright owners.
1.05 Management of Private Messages
Please ensure that you regularly clean out your private messages - both inbox and outbox - as excessive amounts of these stored messages may impair the efficiency of the forum.
1.07 Images
Images within posts are permitted, as long as they further the topic. Images may be removed from posts, or the posts deleted entirely, at the Moderators’ discretion.
Keep in mind that images inappropriate for younger Prisoner Fans, are not allowed.
1.08 Image Hosting
The Prisoner Fan Forum recommends that any images posted in by members are hosted either on the member's personal webspace, or on an image-hosting facility such as Photobucket. Images in threads which are not hosted in this way may be removed by the Moderators, as The Prisoner Fan Forum does not support the theft of other people's bandwidth.
1.09 Spoilers
Spoilers. As the series finished production more than over 20 years ago and is commercially available in its entirety, the Prisoner Fan Forum allows discussion of the complete series and its storylines without the use of spoilers.
1.10 Plagiarism
Don’t quote extensively--you should preferably not have more words in the text you quote than what you yourself write.
1.11 Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation
Please try your best to use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. You are encouraged to check your post before posting.”
1.12 Use of Posts
By setting up an account with the Prisoner Fan Forum you are implicitly agreeing to grant permission for all of your posts to be permanently published on the forum. In the event that you decide to leave the Prisoner Fan Forum or if for any reason your account is deleted, you implicitly agree that you posts will remain published, subject to the discretion of the Moderators.
1.12 Editing Posts
You are permitted to edit your post to correct spelling, grammar and punctuation for up to 15 minutes after posting. You should not attempt to change the content of a post but should follow up with a further post to clarify your point
2.0 FORUM MODERATION
The forum is moderated by an administration team (the Moderators), the composition of which may change from time to time. For easy identification, the Moderators usernames are coloured blue and the Administrator’s red in the forum's members list and in User(s) Active when they are browsing the forum. The Moderators are free to edit or delete individual postings or complete threads at their discretion, and without warning, should they contain any of the following:
2.01. Profanity
We ask that you respect the fact that this is an all-ages board, and use no words stronger than what may be found in the episodes themselves. Likewise, no profane, suggestive or obscene images are allowed.
Even though we would rather members find a more articulate way to express themselves, members may use partially censored words. Like those found in many reputable magazines, replacing bad language with 'f---', 'w---', et al will be allowed. The only way it is allowed though, is by typing the first letter of the word followed by the appropriate number of dashes, though counting is up to the member.
2.02 Flaming and Arguing
While it is the nature of conversation to bring about debate, we ask that you do not use the outbreak of a difference of opinion as an excuse to slander or demean another member, otherwise known as flaming. Not only do such posts offend the rest of the community, but they also tend to derail what might have been a good topic. A good rule of thumb is, simply, don’t post angry. Likewise, it is imperative that you restrain yourself from the casual use of language that can be inferred as racist or bigoted toward someone’s sexual orientation, nationality, religion, etc.
Heated flaming and arguing will invariably result in the closing of a thread, and especially "fiery" flames are subject to editing by a Moderator. Members who persist in flaming are subject to having their account suspended by a Moderator.
2.03 Trolling
Posting with the specific purpose of angering other members--trolling--will not be tolerated
Such posts are subject to editing or deletion by a Moderator. Members who persist in trolling are subject to having their account suspended by a Moderator.
2.04 Post Padding and Useless Threads
Threads that appear to serve as a platform for padding post counts will be deleted once discovered by a Moderator. Note, they will be deleted, not simply closed. These kinds of threads would include "word association" threads.
2.05 Spamming
Refrain from posting the same thread over and over (even under slightly different names, or in different forums), from posting the same reply again and again, or even posting multiple times in a row on a thread.
Such threads will be deleted, such posts may cause an otherwise wholesome thread to be closed, and such members are subject to having their account suspended by a Moderator.
2.06. Illegal Sales or Other Activities
Discussions concerning pirated material for sale at auction sites.
We can not allow you to use our forums to distribute illegal and pirated goods. These include stolen or fake merchandise, or distributing copyrighted material.
Such posts will be deleted by a Moderator. Such members are subject to having their account suspended by a Moderator, as well as having the proper legal authorities contacted.
2.07 Personal Information*
Your privacy will be respected, and you must respect the privacy of your fellow members. Posting the personal information of another member will not be tolerated. Conversely, impersonation or misrepresenting yourself will also not be tolerated. *Real first and last names are not considered to be private in this forum.
No user may post the contents of an email or private message received without first obtaining the permission of the sender.
Misused private information will be edited or deleted by a Moderator. Any member engaged in posting the private information of another member, or is discovered to be misrepresenting themselves is subject to having their account suspended by a Moderator.
2.08. Suspension and Banning
If a member has his posting rights suspended for a period of time, generally for a rule infraction, he will be notified of it and will be told when he may write again asking to be reinstated. If a member is banned from the forum, he will no longer be permitted to participate in the forum again. It is important to note that both suspensions and bans are for the member, not the account, which is further explained below.
2.09 Posting using another Username
This is the practice of registering one or multiple times in an attempt to hide one's identity relative to their primary account, or to circumvent a posting-rights suspension or banning of a primary account. Posting using another username is prohibited and can get your posting rights permanently banned. Relative to a suspension or banning, there is never a justification for posting using another username, regardless of how unfair the member may feel this to be.
If you are unclear as to why any of your messages, or those of others, have been deleted, the Moderators are happy to respond to any questions regarding the posting guidelines via a Private Message or email (not the forum itself).
Usermanes
If you use a username when posting then please use the same one consistently. Under no circumstances are you allowed to use, as a username, the name of a currently-living person - this is defamatory and anyone posting as such will have their account either edited or deleted.
Please keep your username profanity-free. Note that URLs are not allowed in the display name area. Your display name must not be longer than 20 characters. Your display name must not selected that in any way could be considered advertising. You will be asked to select and alternate username or your account deleted.
Signatures
Any rule that applies to a post itself also applies to the body of your signature. The general rule of thumb we believe in as far as signatures go is "the shorter the better."
The limit for signature size is four lines. Do not use blank lines as they only serve to lengthen the page length unnecessarily. Since we recognize there are many different combinations of browsers, resolution and font size settings, all of which can affect signature lines wrapping, the standard we will use to measure this is IE at 800 x 600 resolution with text set at medium and the window expanded full screen. If your signature has more than four lines, it will likely be edited at the discretion of a Moderator.
Without specific permission by Prisoner Fan Forum, signatures may not contain any reference or link that in any way uses it as a way to advertise a place to sell goods of any kind. Without specific permission by Prisoner Fan Forum, signatures may not be used to promote other Prisoner websites. Doing so is an impolite use of the Prisoner Fan Forum resources.
Signatures may not make fun of or insult other forum members any person associated with Prisoner. Examples of this would include quoting a member, including something somebody said about a member, or linking to a forum thread or post that may not have been a member’s most proud moment.
Filling in the "email" field is entirely at your discretion. The option is provided so that those wishing to contact you directly can do so. It has been known for certain "spam" programs and viruses to source your email address from forum postings so you do this at your own risk.
Please be advised that this forum software uses cookies. By setting up an account with the forum you are implicitly agreeing for cookies to be used on your machine for the purpose of forum use.
The Final Word
Not everything a member could do that would be inappropriate for the forum is listed above. Sometimes, members find new and innovative ways to cause problems. As such, any member who causes problems not specifically listed above will be dealt with in a manner consistent with actions for similar issues in the past.
In any dispute about these rules and their application in the forums, the final say rests in the hands of the Moderators in general.
We hope these rules will help to make a lively and friendly forum for all members to enjoy.
